Back-to-School Is Here! 10 Ways to Make This School Year Easier
Now that the 4th of July is over, you will probably notice that back-to-school season is officially here. At least in the stores.
As moms, we know this time of year isn't just about buying pencils and notebooks. It's about getting back into routines, organizing schedules, preparing lunches, remembering spirit days (or trying to!), and somehow keeping everyone on time.
The good news? A few simple products and habits can make a huge difference.
1. Create a Family Command Center
Whether it's a magnetic calendar on the fridge or a shared digital calendar, having one place for everyone's schedules helps eliminate last-minute surprises. See some of my suggestions here!
2. Label Everything
Water bottles, lunch containers, headphones, chargers, jackets… if it leaves the house, label it. A label maker quickly becomes one of those purchases you wonder how you ever lived without. Click here for label maker recommendations. I own the Brother Bluetooth P-Touch (included in list).
3. Simplify Lunch Packing
A compartment-style lunch box paired with reusable snack containers makes packing lunches quicker and helps reduce waste. See my suggestions here.
4. Keep a Car Line Survival Kit
Stock your vehicle with tissues, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, phone chargers, snacks, and a small trash can. Future you will be thankful. See my suggestions here.
5. Track Backpacks and Sports Bags
Bluetooth trackers can save countless hours searching for misplaced backpacks and equipment—especially during busy weeks. Shop bag trackers here!
6. Create a Homework Station
Designate one spot in your home with pencils, chargers, paper, scissors, and everything your kids need. Fewer interruptions mean homework gets finished faster. Shop homework station supplies here.
7. Keep Extra Supplies in the Car
A spare notebook, pencils, hair ties, deodorant, and a phone charger can save the day more often than you'd think. See my suggestions here!
8. Prep the Night Before
Have backpacks packed, lunches planned, clothes laid out, and permission slips signed before bedtime. Mornings instantly become less hectic.
9. Use Technology Wisely
Shared calendars, reminder apps, and smart speakers can help keep the entire family on track without relying on memory alone.
10. Give Yourself Some Grace
No one has a perfect school year. Someone will forget their lunch. A permission slip will get lost. You'll probably miss a spirit day (I know I have!). The goal isn't perfection, it's creating routines that make life a little easier.
Final Thoughts
Back-to-school season can feel overwhelming, but it also brings the excitement of fresh beginnings. With a little preparation and a few products that genuinely make everyday life easier, you can spend less time stressing and more time enjoying this new season.
